Expressions of Interest for Musetoba Database Support and Maintenance
The Association of Manitoba Museums is seeking an individual or company with IT expertise to support and maintain the Musetoba collection management database. We are asking interested parties to submit an expression of interest for providing this service as an AMM employee, freelance contractor, or fee-for-service provider (e.g., IT company, museum association or museum with Collective Access expertise). The nature of this work allows it to be done remotely from anywhere in Canada or beyond. An annual contract/retainer for the work is preferred in order to establish a long-term commitment/relationship.
The Musetoba database, operating on the open source CollectiveAccess platform, provides an online catalogue service for almost 30 museums across Manitoba. This position is intended to support the ongoing maintenance and growth of Musetoba as a resource accessible to all members of the Association of Manitoba Museums. Key responsibilities include:
- Configuring new databases and web subdomains for the onboarding of new member institutions
- Implementing a robust system for offline and offsite data backups
- Monitoring server and database performance and conducting routine maintenance operations (e.g., reindexing, database optimization)
- Implementing requested catalogue features that require server-level configuration and/or advanced template design
- Contributing to a technical knowledge base for Musetoba end users
- Supporting the development of a long-term roadmap for Musetoba
Additionally, the contractor, employee, or service provider may be required to facilitate the migration of existing museum catalogues from a variety of other platforms into Musetoba through externally funded arrangements.
Expressions of interest, proposals, and/or resumes should be submitted according to the timeline below. Please use the subject line: Musetoba Database Maintenance and Support - Expression of Interest/Proposal.
