Operating Headframe-Skip Model (ore mining)
"Mini mining"1928 Operating Headframe-Skip '70s Model-demo headframe-skip for ore loads
Story
Mining and mineral processing is the reason the town of Flin Flon was established in 1928.
This model was designed and built by Frank Gira, an employee of Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. Limited, probably in the 1970s. It demonstrates how broken ore is loaded into a skip and transported from underground to the surface (using 1920s mining technology). It is a continuously-operating electrical model that uses ball bearings instead of broken rock.
