AMM Professional Development Program Schedule (pdf) Information and registration forms, in pdf format for:
Well, we’ve begun to hammer out our training schedule for 2007 – 2008 and it’s going to look a lot different from previous years. Normally we’d be offering four of our seven Certificate Program in Museum Practice courses, but we’re only offering two (Museum Marketing and Museum Operations). The reason for this is that we’re embarking on a large project that’ll take a look at our current training program and recommend changes that can be made to improve the program’s delivery and content. The project will begin in November and will take one year to complete, at least. In addition to the two certificate courses we’ll be offering a series of new Cusps and a series called Know Your Artifacts. The course outlines are still being developed, so keep watching the website for updates. A gentleman in Ontario has written a book that deals with marketing museums called Marketing Canadian Museums into the 21st Century. His name is Richard “Dick” Mathieu and he’d love to put on a course here called Strategic Alliances. Basically Strategic Alliances is a way of building up relationships with other organizations and businesses in order to promote your museum and create interest for your museum in your community. If you ‘d like to know more about Mathieu’s book you can read more about it on the High Traffic Marketing Institute website at www.htmi.ca. If you’d be interested in taking a course with Mathieu, give me a call, drop me a line, and we’ll set it up. I look forward to seeing you at a course real soon! Take care, Are you a manager in an arts organization? Have you had to recruit people to your organization and not known where to begin? Is your termination policy “Get out”? Does your job description consist of “all other duties as assigned”? Is there no one in line to take over your creative director’s job when she leaves for other opportunities? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions you will benefit from participating in the Arts and Cultural Industries Association’s breakfast series on Human Resource Best Practices in the Cultural Sector! This series of workshops will focus on the most important building blocks of Human Resource Management. Based on workbooks developed by the Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) in partnership with the Cultural Careers Council of Ontario (CCCO), the following topics will be covered:
Join Warren Reeves, Director of Human Resources for The Manitoba Museum, as he walks participants through each of the topics over 8 breakfast seminars at the ACI office - Suite 501 - 62 Albert Street. All sessions run from 8AM to 9:30 AM. For further information and to register for this series, please download and complete the registration form. Forms can be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to ACI Manitoba with payment. For more information check out the website at www.creativemanitoba.ca:80/ Space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis!
