Located in Sundre, AB, just 1 hour SW of Red Deer, the Museum has a large collection of Pioneer artifacts, a 4 acre Pioneer Village with original buildings, and the Chester Mjolsness World of Wildlife exhibit with over 150 animal mounts collected by Chester and donated to the Museum. Job Description : Assist in researching artifacts in the Museum's collection and catalogue, itemize and preserve them. Create and update displays in the Museum and Pioneer Village. Qualifications : Any interest or knowledge in museum studies, history or museum practices would be an asset. Artifacts must be handled in accordance with standard museum practices. Some computer work involved. Knowledge of how to set up and create attractive public display exhibits would be an asset. Employee may be asked to assist in special Summer events on the Museum grounds. ContactThe Art Gallery of Greater Victoria currently has a summer position open: Information Technology Assistant The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria seeks a candidate for the position of Information Technology Assistant. He or she will be able to work independently, possess good oral and written skills (English), and have an exceptional attention to detail. Advanced computer skills incl. experience with Visual Basic are necessary; ASP, XHTML, CSS, SQL, database and data manipulation, and ASP.NET experience is an asset. The successful applicant for the position of Information Technology Assistant will work closely with the Information Technology Administrator to streamline and automate our rights & reproductions systems. This will include adding the capacity for online ordering of images from our collection of more than 10,000 currently digitized artworks. The Information Technology Assistant will also assist the Information Technology Administrator in his day to day duties in pursuing new media and technology initiatives in a busy arts organization.
