Find out which Manitoba Museums are celebrating the month of May!

Why is May 12 Manitoba Day? It was on May 12, 1870 that the Manitoba Act was given royal assent and Manitoba officially entered Confederation as a province. The Act was proclaimed on July 15, 1870 Manitoba’s other birthday.

On May 12, 1966 Manitoba’s official flag was dedicated and unfurled for the first time. In 1986, May 12 was designated as Manitoba Day in perpetuity in recognition of the importance of this date in the province’s history.

The Winnipeg Foundation approves $10,000 grant!

Last fall the AMM applied for a grant of $10,000 from The Winnipeg Foundation in support of the new TiL (Transitions in Learning) project. In January the AMM was phoned to say the proposal was accepted. The Foundation's representative said the board was impressed with the proposal and its scope.

The TiL project will be looking at the AMM's current training program and will be making recommendations for improvement to its delivery and content. These recommendations will be based on what our members want and what our instructors, and other contributing experts, feel should be included or changed.

The AMM would like to thank The Winnipeg Foundation for the grant and its support of this important project.

• Centre for Cultural Management - Technology in the Arts, May 9 - 10, 2008
• 2008 AMM Conference & AGM, September 19 & 20, 2008 in Morden.
  The 2008 AMM Conference & AGM will be hosted by the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre in Morden on September 19 & 20, 2008. Details will be posted as they become available.
• The Canadian Association of Science Centres (CASC) Annual Conference.
• Heritage Tourism conference to be held in Nova Scotia, April 24 - 26.

A conference can only be made great with the efforts of interested individuals. If you'd like to help in planning the next greatest AMM conference ever please consider joining the Conference Committee. They'll be meeting again soon, so call the AMM office if you'd like to pitch in.
