Travelling Exhibit: The Sky's the Limit
The Association of Manitoba Museum's 2007 Conference and AGM was held in The Pas September 21 and 22. The theme was Destination; Museums! Event summary and photos. |
After the success of the AMM’s first fundraising raffle last year, we’ve decided to give it another go. This time around though, we’ve changed the ticket prices and made it possible for our member museums to benefit from selling tickets! Here’s how it works: we will print a series of tickets that can be sold for $2.00 each and a second series of tickets that are to be sold at a discounted price of 3 for $5.00. Tickets will be distributed to AMM Council members and to member museums interested in selling. Member museums will receive 25% of the profit from the ticket sales for which they are responsible. So, not only are participating museum ticket sellers helping the AMM raise funds for our Professional Development Program, but you are also benefiting your own museum’s interpretation and programming! In addition to a share of the profits a one year AMM membership will be given to the museum that sells the most tickets. Click here for information on the prize packages and how to get your tickets. Courting the Community, the AMM's Annual Conference & AGM,will be hosted in Morden on September 19 & 20. It's shaping up to be another incredible experience as we take delegates geocaching and dating decision makers. For more intimate details, and online registration form, click here.
The TiL project will be looking at the AMM's current training program and will be making recommendations for improvement to its delivery and content. These recommendations will be based on what our members want and what our instructors, and other contributing experts, feel should be included or changed. The AMM would like to thank The Winnipeg Foundation for the grant and its support of this important project.
A conference can only be made great with the efforts of interested individuals. If you'd like to help in planning the next greatest AMM conference ever please consider joining the Conference Committee. They'll be meeting again soon, so call the AMM office if you'd like to pitch in. Do you have an item or collection collecting dust ? Or are you looking for something unique to add to a collection you already have? Check out our Give and Take page if you have something you'd like to be put to good use or need something that you know someone has and doesn't need. The Association of Manitoba Museums, as the voice of our museum community, is dedicated to promoting excellence in preserving and presenting Manitoba’s heritage. The Association of Manitoba Museums will strive to become the primary museum related service organization in Manitoba providing innovative training, advocacy, resources and responsive leadership to a diverse and growing membership. It will promote Manitoba museums in the wider community from a secure financial base.
