Description The Planetarium is a multi-purpose audio/visual theatre dedicated to providing the best astronomical and entertainment programming for Manitobans and visitors. Part of The Manitoba Museum's mission statement is "to encourage discovery, appreciation and understanding of Manitoba, the world and the universe." Planetarium shows are designed to share knowledge of the universe with members of the community.

The Planetarium project began in 1961 as part of the planning for the Manitoba Centennial Centre complex to celebrate both Canada's (1967) and Manitoba's (1970) centennials. Its construction was made possible through the generosity of the Saiyde and Samuel Bronfman Foundation. Located on the lower level of The Manitoba Museum, the Planetarium was officially opened on May 15, 1968.

Visitors to the Planetarium become intrepid astronomical explorers as they embark on a voyage of discovery from yesterday to tomorrow and beyond. You can explore the night sky as seen from anywhere on Earth, or journey far into space to visit the planets, stars and beyond.
