MUSEUM PASSPORT ADVENTURE 2008
In celebration of International Museum Day on May 18, 2008 Morden & Darlingford museums announced the launch of their Museum Passport Adventure 2008.
Four area museums have joined forces and are encouraging/inviting local citizens to "stay in their own backyard" this summer. All too often, we tend to take our visitors to see places and things outside our own community when we have some of the best museums/attractions in Manitoba right here in the Morden and Darlingford area. In other words, right in your own backyard! When was the last time you played tourist in your own community?
This year, for the first time, four museums from Morden and Darlingford are inviting everyone visiting or living in the Pembina Valley region to:
Visit the region's 4 museums
In 4 months (between June & September)
And collect 4 stamps
To enter 4 draws!
Once you've visited all 4 museums, you can fill out the entry form and drop it off at one of the 4 participating museums:
Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre, Morden
Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum, Morden
Pembina Threshermen's Museum, between Morden and Winkler
Darlingford School Heritage Building & Museum, Darlingford
This Museum Passport Adventure is also a geocache opportunity. You can visit these 4 museums with your GPS unit as caches are hidden at each one. The geocache coordinates are included in the passport. Geocaching is presently the fastest growing sport in the world.
Passports are FREE and available at all four (4) museums & some tourist information booths in the area. Information is also available by phoning or visiting any one of the four museums.
We hope you'll enjoy our Museum Passport Adventure however you choose to visit our four museums between now and September 30th.

Our annual conference, September 19 & 20 in Morden, is going to have a rather intimate theme this year.
Things will start to get friendly on Thursday, September 18, as the pre-conference workshop will have us Dating the Decision Makers while later in the conference we'll be talking about Wooing the Web.
After breaking the ice the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre will be sending a warm invitation to conference delegates asking them to get to know the Centre a little better during a wine and cheese reception.
Intimacy will continue during the conference as we discuss how to court and develop lasting and rewarding partnerships and how making connections using the internet should be encouraged.
The plans for Friday include a cozy lunch at the Pembina Threshermen's Museum followed by tour options. One of the options will include a geo-caching adventure!
After the tours delegates will re-group for our always warm, wild and fun banquet and auction. The location of the banquet hasn't yet been determined.
Saturday will have more sessions regarding making meaningful connections with others, the AGM, and a group encounter designed to foster open and frank discussion about the AMM, its goals, and what direction our members want to take their relationship with the organization.
Delegates can also look forward to some fantastic local entertainment while enjoying the company of other AMM members.
Watch your mail for more information and the registration form. Keep checking the website for updates.
Please note that these are events that are currently being planned for. Changes may have to be made.
One activity taking place will be geo-caching!
More details will be posted as they become available.
