"A monarch on a blazingstar"
Monarch and Living Prairie Museum - last remaining tall grass prairie in world Monarch & Interpretive Centre

Story

This Monarch butterfly is on some of the last remaining tall grass prairie in world.

The Living Prairie Museum is 12 hectares (30 acres) of remnant tall grass prairie, a highly endangered ecosystem that is home to a great diversity of living things. Like many other butterflies, monarchs call the museum home. Monarch caterpillars rely on native milkweed as a host plant, while adults feed on the nectar from a wide variety of wildflowers, including the meadow blazingstar pictured here.
