St-Georges Ferry (& replica)

"What do you do when there's no bridge?"
1946-76 St-Georges Ferry and replica - probably province's last intact wooden ferry Car on St-Georges Ferry photo

Story

This large wooden ferry was constructed for St. Georges and is probably the last wooden one left intact in the province. The ferry worked alongside, and eventually took over the role of, the skiff after the dam was built.

Ferries played a huge role in the community for almost 75 years. It could easily accommodate four large cars. While several ferries were constructed and used over the years, this example was built in 1946, and ceased operation in 1976.
